The Golden City
A long time coming
After 10 +
years since visiting San Francisco, I spontaneously booked a flight to the The Golden City to visit my father’s old stomping grounds from when he lived there in the 60’s-70’s.
The main purpose for the trip was to check out the scene for potentially moving there after I graduate from college. SF is on my list of places I am looking at and applying for jobs on the West Coast. It was incredible to visit some new and old spots in the city.
Besides my Dad growing up there, I really didn’t know many people that lived in the city. As a result, I decided to go out on my own meeting people.
If you know me, I’m a pretty open person and don’t have much trouble getting to know someone. However, for the first couple of days in SF I was very nervous for some crazy unknown reason. I don’t know whether it was just embracing new surroundings or just overthinking (I tend to do that a lot). The thought that I would be graduating and moving to another city where I didn’t know anyone was challenging to say the least.
After a day or two I realized that I could either be super analytical or fully embrace where I was at the moment. Walking around and popping into different shops, bars, and restaurants I could not have asked for a better trip.
The biggest plus of all was I felt like I was not being judged. San Francisco is a city that is globally known as being very open and accepting of all different types of people. I immediately felt that welcoming and warmth during my stay in The Golden City.
If you are visiting SF for vacation or work, I highly recommend putting your headphones on and renting a scooter off the SCOOT app and explore the city and it’s iconic neighborhoods--you will not regret the experience!
