It’s been only a couple of months since visiting San Francisco before the holidays and I came down with separation anxiety from the great state of California. So last minute, I booked an Airbnb and ticket to San Diego first and foremost because I have never been there and it’s been one of the top places I have been wanting to visit in the US.
Before going on this adventure back out west, I geared up my mindset to more open and flexible than when I was visiting SF. Rather than focusing or thinking about if I could see myself working/living in SD, I wanted to put my energy into the new people I was meeting and the experiences I could create.
The highlight of the trip was visiting La Jolla and Balboa Park. La Jolla is like another world of its own. The downtown is filled with niche restaurants and bars as well as a views that are unforgettable. While spending time in Balboa Park, it was as if I was transported to Spain being among street vendors, soaking up the history and the architecture of the buildings.
I ate my face away with Mexican food and margaritas and was in major need of a detox when I returned to Chicago. I don’t think I have been this happy on a trip in a while. No stresses to experience and only the excitement to think that perhaps one day I could be living in Southern California. Keeping an open and positive mindset and focusing on the beauty of the area yielded miracles for me during this trip.
